I have always been drawn to painting on small canvases because of the intimate dialogue it fosters between the artwork and the viewer. There’s something about the constraints of a small canvas that sparks a deep fascination within me – the boundaries of scale, the way they challenge my perception, and the way they push my creativity.

The larger work may present a grand narrative, but the small scale invites you in, whispering secrets in your ear.

Working on a small canvas is like capturing a universe in a grain of sand, where every detail is paramount, every stroke a deliberate act, and every nuance a whispered promise.

For several years now, I’ve been exploring this fascination, honing my craft, and distilling my vision. My efforts have led to the inclusion of some of my small-scale works in the ongoing exhibition «Little Treasures» in Bologna, curated by the insightful Paola Trevisian.

This journey has led me to create a body of work that contributes to this intimate exhibition, where the smallest gestures speak volumes, and the beauty lies in the subtle, the nuanced, and the overlooked. In these tiny realms I’ve discovered a world of crucial crafting, where the essence of the subject is distilled, stripped of distractions, and laid bare.

Each painting becomes a personal encounter, a quiet conversation between the artwork and the viewer. The small scale fosters an intimacy, a sense of discovery, as if the viewer is uncovering a hidden treasure. The landscapes, though small, unfold like memories, revealing the intricate dance between light, shadow, and the earthly textures of the natural world.

They are fragments of a larger whole, whispers of a world beyond the frame, waiting to be sensed and felt.

In this quiet space, time slows, and the viewer is invited to linger, to breathe in the atmosphere, and to rediscover the beauty in the everyday. The paintings become a bridge between the inner and outer worlds, a reminder that even in the smallest moments, there is profound beauty to be found.
